Tina and Jan
Tina, born November 2, 1980, grew up in Vienna
In general, I never really felt at home in this big city. I traveled around a lot, moved to Turkey when I was 19, then to Cologne, and then ended up back in Vienna. Then I had my son Sinan and I saw a lot of the world with him. I always worked in the office, trained as an office clerk, then completed my high school diploma so that I wasn't just a secretary. That meant I could at least work as the manager's assistant. But that didn't appeal to me either, I always wanted to be the "boss" - apparently, according to my mother, I always wanted to be in charge as a child :-) At the age of 39, I completed my bachelor's degree in German Philology at the University of Vienna and I was able to fulfill a dream with this. Today I work from home as a department head for a Swiss newspaper and can also build up a second source of income, a farm.
Jan, born April 22, 1979, grew up in Vienna
As a typical Viennese, I could never really imagine living in isolation. But the dream of living in a forest in Canada was always present. I was in the Boy Scouts for 20 years, then worked as a Boy Scout leader for a long time and loved being in nature. It was a good balance to my job as a waiter. In general, I always wanted to work in film and television, preferably behind the camera. For this I completed a degree at the SAE Institute in Vienna.
I've always loved animals, so I thought my wife's crazy idea to just run away and build a farm was brilliant. Here I can give free rein to my hobby of constantly having to make something, because craftsmanship is always required here. And there is always something to build, my wife takes care of that. I also work full-time for two well-known newspapers in Switzerland and Austria.
